You've seen the term floating around Blip, but what is CPM?
What is CPM (Cost-per-mille)?
Simply put, CPM is a measurement of how much it costs you for 1000 impressions. It's a useful metric for understanding how impactful your advertising dollars are.
What is an Impression?
Each time your ad displays, people are going to be passing the billboard. Based on independent data, impressions are a measurement of how many people should see your ad each time it displays. Impressions vary based on traffic patterns and time of day.
How much does it cost each time my ad plays?
The cost of advertising with Blip can vary based on specific location, time of day, and demand. Typically off-peak times will receive less impressions, but have a lower cost per display.
Why is CPM important?
The number of people that see your ad can vary. The cost of each individual display can also vary. Just looking at one or the other can be misleading. For example, spending $2 per display may seem like a lot, but if it gets 500 views that would be a $4 CPM. Conversely a $0.10 cost per display sounds awesome, but if only 10 people see it, that's a $10 CPM.
CPM is a sure-fire way to measure advertising in a comparative way. You can compare CPMs across multiple billboards you are advertising on, or the CPM of billboard advertising to other advertising mediums you're using.
